Our flagship course for legally armed citizens,
this one day program exceeds the Tennessee Department of
Safety's training requirements to apply for a handgun
carry permit. During this comprehensive course, we cover
firearms safety, handgun fundamentals, legal issues and
liability, basic marksmanship, Tennessee firearms and
self defense law, and Carry Permit responsibilities and

Saturday, January 23 (Smyrna) 7:30 a.m. to 3:00
p.m.
A one day, entry level study of the magazine fed
semi-automatic rifle or carbine in its close range
defensive role. Rifles and carbines suitable for this
course are typically chambered in 5.56mm and 7.62 mm.
Pistol caliber carbines are also suitable and welcome.
This course will cover: firearms safety, carbine/rifle
function and nomenclature, ammunition and accessory
selection, administrative and tactical gun handling,
battle sight zero and marksmanship drills, malfunction
clearance, and a qualification course. A Tennessee
Handgun Carry Permit is recommended as a prerequisite.

DEFENSIVE HANDGUN WORKSHOP ($165.00)
April 17-18 (Smyrna) 7:30 a.m. -
3:00 p.m
This is a two day, intermediate level skill builder
course emphasizing firearms safety, marksmanship, and
basic tactics. Defensive Handgun Workshop is designed as
the first follow-up course for those who have recently
completed a Carry Permit course or Armed Security
course, or as a refresher course for those with previous
handgun experience. DHW topics include "The Combat
Triad", presentation from a holster, movement, scanning
and threat assessment, malfunction drills, failure to
stop drills, concealed carry methods, tactical and
emergency reloads, addressing multiple threats, shooting
from cover, and police-type qualification courses of
fire. A Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit, or other
acceptable previous firearms training is a prerequisite..

GENERAL DEFENSIVE SHOTGUN ($105.00)
Saturday, May 1 (Smyrna) 7:30 a.m. to 3:00
p.m.
A one day, fundamentals course of instruction in the
operation of the shotgun for home defense and personal
protection. This course will cover firearms safety,
shotgun platforms and mechanics, ammunition selection,
administrative and tactical gun handling, and defensive
applications. This course includes both classroom
instruction, and live fire range exercises. A Tennessee
Handgun Carry Permit is recommended as a prerequisite.

NORTH DAKOTA CONCEALED WEAPON PERMIT TEST
($25.00)
Safety South is authorized to administer the North
Dakota Concealed Weapon Permit test. This is an open
book test consisting of 10 questions. We conduct this
